Just a reminder that Banford Open House is tomorrow night (Thursday) from 6:00-7:00.  Hope to see you there!

You will begin seeing this symbol quite a bit around Banford. It symbolizes the Positivity Project. Banford will be implementing this program throughout the year. It empowers America's youth to build strong relationships by seeing the character strengths in themselves and others.

Each week we will learn about, and work on displaying, each one of the 24 character traits. Today we started with what exactly it means to understand how other people matter. The hashtag #otherpeoplematter will be an important reminder throughout the year to think of others and display these character traits on a daily basis.

Each day we will spend a minimum of 10 minutes to reinforce the weekly characteristic. Please remember to ask your child about it.

This week your student will begin bringing bookworm books home to read every night. It is important that the books come back to school each day. The students are expected to take at least one bookworm test every week. The students are not allowed to look back in their books during the tests. This is so I can assess their reading comprehension accurately.
Please don't be surprised if your child brings home a book that is a level or two lower than last year. It was a long summer and I like the students to start off successfully. I assure you that the students will working on the level that is best for them.
